now & then

Now we are celebrating the arrival of a new family member, Maxwell Jeffrey Sheneman.
My sister Libby and her husband Brad recently had their second little baby boy.
Their little family is growing and it is so fun to watch.
There is nothing better than a newborn infant. Perfect little miracles.

Then, back in July I celebrated my big 25th birthday with my family.
I love having a summer birthday. It makes camping and motorcycle trips possible.
My sister Emily made me a delicious home made carrot cake, that was too good for words.

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to attend the General Relief Society Conference with my mom and sisters. President Uchtdorf's message meant a lot to me. I, like so many of you, felt like he was talking straight to me. You can watch or read his message here. It got me thinking about being happy now. This picture of my father and I, in combination of the title of this post, reminds that while my Dad may be here now, he might not always be. Shortly, he will undergo a stem cell transplant, in hopes to kick as much as this cancer as possible. Love you Dad, we know you can beat this and we are happy you are with us NOW!

a rough week

Dad and I at Disney World during a down pour
This week has been a rough one for my family. We got some terrible news regarding my dad's health. He has not been feeling well for some time now, and was just diagnosed with multiple myeloma, which is cancer of the plasma. We know we have many rough days ahead, but we also have lots of hope. Please pray for our family, we need all the strength we can get.

another love day

With Valentines Day just around the corner I felt it was an appropriate time to share about our anniversary, another love day. Since 2010 is an even year it was David's turn to plan what we did.

We both decided that we wanted to go to the temple every year on our anniversary, so that is what we did first. We went to the beautiful Draper Temple to do sealings. It was an awesome reminder that of the promises we made a year ago.

David knows how I love me a mani/pedi so he then treated me to one. Later that night he re-created a lot of good memories of ours. We went to dinner at our favorite Thai restaurant, which is also where he proposed. We finished the night by going up the Marriott hotel where we went on our wedding night. He even sang my song to me, my own personal show.

I love David. I love that he loves me no matter what. I love our little family. love love love.

a moment

As much as I don't like the idea of taking a fitness for life class, I did really like my teacher. I feel like I know how to work out pretty well, I eat very healthy, yada yada yada. So going into this class I was hesitant. However, my teacher Clay Anderson was pretty cool. He was in his 50's and first and foremost was a coach. I could tell he had a good head on his shoulders. About the third week of classes I came to class and the T.A. told us that he had had a heart attack. This in and of itself was hard to hear. Then on Thursday as I was walking to the gym to go running I saw his obituary posted on the bulletin board. I can't tell you how much this has effected me. I kept thinking of the movie Temple Grandin when she says about people who had passed away "but where do they go?" It was such a testimony builder to me, that I know where they go. Life is so short and you never know what God has in store for you. This was a reminder to me to live each day the best I know how. Coach Anderson, you will be missed.
