The one where we had pillow talk

The other day my close friends got together while Steph, who lives in DC was in town for Easter. We went to Eggs in the City for brunch. Then spent the rest of the afternoon with all four of us talking in Sarah's guest bed. Most of the chatter consisted of pregnancy talk since they are all pregnant! It was so fun to have us all together again. I have the best friends ever. Sorry if you thought you did. I'm sure yours are great, just not as great as mine. I'm pretty biased though...

Desktop Calender: February

February desktop calender. Like usual the month is half over and the saying "better late than never" does me a lot of good. As much as I really do love all the reds and pinks of this month, I couldn't help but go for this feel. Hope you like it and I hope your whole month year is filled with love!
p.s. If this image is too small for your desktop and is blurry, just email me and I will send you a bigger file! loves!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh, Valentine's Day how I love you. I always have. I was never one to hate on Valentine's Day just because I was single. Probably because if I was my mom usually got me a valentine and I loved it. I love that she made it a day where you can give love to anyone, not just your special someone. So for this valentine's day here are a few things I am loving lately.

p.s. Did you catch the VW commercial during the Super Bowl? It made watching football worth it.

now & then

Now we are celebrating the arrival of a new family member, Maxwell Jeffrey Sheneman.
My sister Libby and her husband Brad recently had their second little baby boy.
Their little family is growing and it is so fun to watch.
There is nothing better than a newborn infant. Perfect little miracles.

Then, back in July I celebrated my big 25th birthday with my family.
I love having a summer birthday. It makes camping and motorcycle trips possible.
My sister Emily made me a delicious home made carrot cake, that was too good for words.

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to attend the General Relief Society Conference with my mom and sisters. President Uchtdorf's message meant a lot to me. I, like so many of you, felt like he was talking straight to me. You can watch or read his message here. It got me thinking about being happy now. This picture of my father and I, in combination of the title of this post, reminds that while my Dad may be here now, he might not always be. Shortly, he will undergo a stem cell transplant, in hopes to kick as much as this cancer as possible. Love you Dad, we know you can beat this and we are happy you are with us NOW!

nie nie and me.

My Mom would be the first to tell me that the title of this post is terrible English.
But it rhymed, so it's ok right? Moving on.
Last night, yes, that is right only last night and I am already blogging about it.
David and I (notice the proper English) had the privilege to
attend a conference put on by his work, Soltis.
And guess who was the keynote speaker? You guessed it! Richard Simmons! Kidding.
It was Stephanie and Christian Nielson from the NieNie Dialogues
When David told me a couple of weeks ago that she was coming I was so excited.
Her words were very inspiring and loving.
She is even more lovely and beautiful in real life than in pictures.
If she can come out on top of this trial,
then I am pretty sure I can come out on top of my tiny little trials.

Don't mind my, over the top, really excited smile.
It didn't leave my face all night. oi.

Clouds in the Sky

I recently finished my internship with Sycamore Street Press.
They were kind enough to let me design and print my own creation.
This was the design I came up with.
It is an 11 x 14 poster print of the clouds in the sky.
I had so much fun with the whole process.
I am officially in love with letterpress and can't wait to own my own.
If you would like a copy of this you can go here and buy one.
blood, sweat and tears went into this. Well no blood, gross.
Enjoy!

rollin', rollin' down the river

On Thursday we returned from our annual river trip.
Although it was a little different this year.
It was sad not to have my family there,
but so awesome to have David and his family there.
The trip was a total success, thanks to my amazing brother in law Brad. (first picture).
He makes it possible for us to have the most amazing trips.
Way better than the guided river trips and at a fraction of the cost.
I wish we could have spent another 5 days out there.
I absolutely love being out in nature and on the river.
I don't worry or think about anything else.
All those worldly worries leave you and you are over come by the beauty of nature.

reason #21 why I love summer

I had to tickle him to get him to smile.
When summer rolls around so does the rebel motorcycle.
When David and I were dating, he wooed me on this bike.
I still love cruising around the town with my arms around him.
Especially when we cruise to church.
p.s. we do wear helmets, just not in the picture.

Intern

Have you heard?
I am interning for the amazing Sycamore Street Press!
(Isn't their stuff the best?)

And I love it!
I love driving through the beautiful Heber mountains.
Especially with how green it has been lately.
I really love working with Eva and Kirk. (and Ingrid too!)
They have come so far and are an inspiration to me.
and I love letter press.
in love.
There is no doubt in my mind that I want to own a letter press of my own one day!

Martha Stewart

Another assignment that I forgot about. We had to replicate a magazine spread from scratch. I of course chose a spread from Martha Stewart Living. I absolutely loved this assignment. It was a blast. The fonts that Martha uses are hard to come by, so those are a little different. Done in Photoshop and InDesign.

bikram

I started doing bikram yoga last month. I had never tried because I was always too freaked out at the idea of doing yoga in a 110 degree room. I had heard that bikram yoga would cure or help almost any injury or health problem. So I thought I would give it a go and see if it could help this wretched back of mine.
I have been going for a month now. I go 6 times a week. and oh my! I love love it. 90 minutes of awesomeness. My back feels so much better. I sleep better. I feel better. It makes me conscious of what I am eating. I have more energy. I feel like it helped me in school and to run better.

If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. It is expensive, but so worth it. Trust me.
And who knows, maybe one day you will be able to do this...

Somebody had a birthday...

Someone had a birthday. And that someone is our little Lucy Lou!
She turned 1 on April 16th!
She got special attention all day
and even some doggy bagels from Einsteins!

MOAB

We recently went down to Moab for the annual half marathon. As always we had so much fun. The weather was a little chilly and very windy. We were happy to get away from the snow for the weekend though! Our good friends the Dickson's joined came down and joined in the run.
Can't wait til next year!

My dad was a champ and walked through his pain. I ran back and met him.

he liked it

In 2D design our midterm assignment was pretty much "do whatever you want, but it better amaze me" kinda thing. My teacher didn't really give us a whole lot of direction, we just needed to incorporate things we have learned so far (continuation, unity, variety, balance etc..).  So I started taking pictures of these still life settings that I set up. I hated all of them. Then randomly I snapped this picture. My teacher liked it. He liked it so much he had me get it framed and is submitting it to the student art show. This coming from a guy that told one kid that is his piece had nothing there. I was really flattered and excited. I will let you know if I get in the art show!

more fun with shapes

In Graphic Computer Applications we had to do the same thing we did with our self portraits to a landscape. This time though we had no limit on colors or the amount of shapes we could use.

The first is the original picture I chose. It had to include something man made and nature.

and here is my rendition.
This took me at least 25-30 hours to complete. Each shape, and I mean EACH shape was drawn by me. And before you are quick to judge, it is WAY harder than it looks.

goodbye Egypt, hello Greece!

I took my first test in art history, it covered the stone age up to the Egyptians. My teacher's tests are difficult to say the least. They are essay tests. Pretty much he shows you a piece of art and expects you tell him the name, date and culture it came from. Then you just need to tell him as much as you know about the piece. It was so hard to know exactly what he was looking for. I studied like mad though, did mass amounts of memorization and came out with an...duh duh duh A-! I am going to brag about this. Only because I was the highest grade in the class and the only A. woo woo.

Moving on to GREECE and ROME! We just finished learning about the Greeks yesterday. I have a love/hate relationship with these folks. Love because they are the one that introduce the idea of humanism, and that every human being is important. Hate because they made their women stay inside or completely covered at all times. It wasn't until the Hellenistic period that the women started being portrayed in the same way men were.
Their art is nothing but beautiful. Everything they did was perfect and of the highest quality. I love learning about the Spartans, the wars, Alexander the Great, the battle of Marathon.

I thoroughly enjoy this class. It may seem boring and difficult to some, but I really love the history behind all these different cultures. Can't wait to hear about those wacky Romans.

Smart Man.

"When the real history of mankind is fully disclosed, will it feature the echoes of gunfire or the shaping sound of lullabies? The great armistices made by military men or the peacemaking of women in homes and in neighborhoods? Will what happened in cradles and kitchens prove to be more controlling than what happened in congresses? When the surf of the centuries has made the great pyramids so much sand, the everlasting family will be standing, because it is a celestial institution formed outside telestial time. The women of God know this."

photo op

We had the opportunity to have the very talented Nicole Gerulat photograph our Lucy Lou.  It was such a fun day, and Lucy behaved so well.  I was honored to meet Nicole and see her working first hand.  You can see some of the photo shoot here and here. Check her blog for more to come!

absolutely adore.

Maybe you have heard of Adele and maybe you haven't. All I know is I adore her and she is my new favorite. She has such a good sound.

Sam gets a hair cut!

Just before my nephew Sam's first birthday I gave him his first haircut and took care of that mullet! He was happy for a minute, but in the end it took three of us working together and a bottle of milk to get the haircut finished. It transformed him into a little boy, no longer a baby.
