good eats

I dream about this food. My mouth is watering this moment. La Esquina in SoHo. Life changing.
Katz's Deli. Over priced and too much meat, but still tasty.

Rice to Riches. One of the only two places we ate twice. Rice pudding, any flavor. So amazingly delicious.

Community Food and Juice in Harlem. Loved so much. The other place that we ate at twice.

Max Brenner's Chocolate Bar and Restaurant. The most delicious chocolate goodness I have ever eaten.

an afternoon

On the Sunday we were in DC (which was also mother's day) we went to church to hear Steph speak. It was so fitting, seeing how she is a mom to be. She did a great job! Then Davie and I spent the afternoon walking the beautiful, brick paved sidewalk neighborhoods by their church. The houses were beyond perfect. I loved them. The four of us then grabbed a bite at 2amy's not too far from Georgetown. It was delectable! Although, Davie and I agree that no pizza we had in DC or NY beats Pizzeria Limone. Have you been there yet??

Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh, Valentine's Day how I love you. I always have. I was never one to hate on Valentine's Day just because I was single. Probably because if I was my mom usually got me a valentine and I loved it. I love that she made it a day where you can give love to anyone, not just your special someone. So for this valentine's day here are a few things I am loving lately.

p.s. Did you catch the VW commercial during the Super Bowl? It made watching football worth it.

chocolate chip cookies, a classic but a goodie

I promised awhile ago that I would share my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, so here it is! Keep in mind that I like my cookies soft, kinda chewy, not a lot of chips and not too sweet. So if you like that too then you will love these! Also, I am kinda ashamed to share this because it has shortening in it and processed sugar. Two things I try not to eat, but these are my weakness.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/2 c. Shortening
1/2 c. Butter at room temperature
3/4 c. Sugar
3/4 c. Brown Sugar

Cream those together, but don't over blend

2 Eggs
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Vanilla

Add those ingredients and stir til incorporated

2 1/2 -3 c. Flour

Add 1/2 c. at time. Dough should be sticky but not so sticky that it sticks to your fingers a lot.
Real clear I know.

Add as many milk chocolate chips as you would like. I usually do about 3 handfuls.

I use a mini ice cream scoop to make the dough balls.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 9 mins.
And like my Dad always says "If they look done, they are burned". So don't leave them in too long.

Hope you all enjoy them as much as David and I do!

Happy 4th of July

Fourth of July Cake from Pioneer Woman
Happy 4th of July.
May it be full of bbq's, sparklers, fireworks, and family.
I know ours will be.
And I fully intend on making and eating (despite the fact that it will make me oh so sick) this.

February 14

We celebrated Valentine's Day by going to lunch at the oh so yummy Rooster in downtown Provo.
I can't get enough curry. No matter what country it comes from and theirs is super delicious.

After lunch and before we had to head back to school we stopped off at The Chocolate for some scrumptious baby cupcakes.  They may be the best I have had in a long while.
Not to mention they have a bunch of really cute rooms where you can sit, visit and enjoy your desserts.
We will definitely be going there again.
I love this day. I love the food. I love David.
and I think I love my new pink lipstick.

Lately I've been loving

In honor of love day tomorrow, and in no exact order...

1. My two biggest fans. husband and pooch. Of course my family goes here too.

2. Izze. Oh how I love them. I don't drink soda, just cause I think it is gross and I never feel good after I drink it. (I think it's been about 6 years now) This stuff is all natural, fruity and oh so delicious.

3. Roasted veggies. In particular carrots. A little olive oil, salt and pepper in the oven at 425 for 20-25 mins. They are heavenly. Salty yet sweet, soft yet crispy.

4. My church. I love it. I'm proud to be a member.

5. My early valentine's day present from husband. Skull candy dub headphones. They make my running life so much better. thank you hubs.

6. Tracy Anderson Method. She is working muscles that I honestly didn't know I could work, and I love it.
