Clouds in the Sky

I recently finished my internship with Sycamore Street Press.
They were kind enough to let me design and print my own creation.
This was the design I came up with.
It is an 11 x 14 poster print of the clouds in the sky.
I had so much fun with the whole process.
I am officially in love with letterpress and can't wait to own my own.
If you would like a copy of this you can go here and buy one.
blood, sweat and tears went into this. Well no blood, gross.
Enjoy!

tessellations

In 2D design we had to create a shape with positive and negative space. Then replicate that shape 280 times. The shape could be turned but not mirrored. The end creation is a tessellation. I wish I would have paid more attention to the pattern I was creating instead of just aimlessly turning my shape. I really liked this project, although my hand was dead, seriously couldn't move it by the end.

Self Portrait

In graphic computer applications we had to take a picture of ourselves and digitize it with shapes in Adobe Illustrator. We could only use the pen tool to create the picture. We could use a limit of 5 colors and a maximum of 50 shapes. We also had to write our name. The sepia one is the one I turned in, with my name below it. I did it in black and white also. The a in my name is way more neon than it was on the copy I handed in.

creating unity

My first assignment in 2D design was to create unity in a work of art. We had to turn in a total of twelve pieces showing unity in the four following ways:
1. Rhythm and Repetition
2. Continuation
3. Variety
4. Proximity
We could use pencil, ink or collage to do this project. I am only really familiar with pencil so I chose to sketch all of mine.
The picture of the couple shows unity in variety.
The jelly fish shows continuation.
The pregnant woman, who I am aware has irregularly large breasts, shows rhythm and repetition.
And finally the peacock shows rhythm and repetition.

I am really loving this class so far. Mostly because my teacher is really teaching me and helping me personally progress, and we all know that I need all the help that I can get.
