all gone.

It's true, my hair is all gone. Well, not all gone but 15 1/2 inches of it is. Donating my hair to a cancer patient has been on my 101 list for awhile, but I wasn't sure when I would actually do it. When I came home from my mission my hair was down to my waist. Not knowing when I would get married I decided to keep my hair long until I did and then I would cut it. Little did I know that it would be so soon! Once I made the appointment to actually cut it off I was pretty excited to do it. Then I started having "nightmares" where people would tell me how bad my hair looked after I cut it. I was surprisingly emotional the night before. I was starting to really think that I was like Jo in Little Women, and that my hair was my one true beauty. Of course my wonderful husband reassured me that it wasn't and that I would look great with short hair. It had been almost 3 years since I had had a substantial hair cut, and admittedly I was a little nervous.
David was a good sport and came with me for moral support and to be the photographer. Twenty minutes before I started feeling kinda sick and thought I might have some nervous poos (don't act like you don't know what that is). I took a couple of deep breaths and before I knew it Nikki had sectioned off my hair into ponytails and was hacking away at it.

It was a little shocking at first, but I quickly loved my new hair. It feels so light and breezy. I think it will be perfect for summer. I told Nikki to keep it long enough so I could pull it back while I was running. Yesterday I went running and it was marvelous to not have 18 inches of hair whipping me in the back! Plus no more long hairs found all over the house, no more of David leaning on it and pulling it, and no more taking an hour to blow dry and style my hair!

All I have to do now is ship off my locks to Locks of Love, where they will make it into a wig and make some very deserving child very happy. If you want to hear more about why I did this click here.

Oh my goodness Aly!

1. You are a saint.
2. You have really, really pretty hair. My hair would be about ONE of those FOUR braids you lopped off!
3. That will make a b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. wig for sure!
4. You are still super pretty. (Like, very very, very.)
5. Sooo smart to cut it long enough so you will still be able to do a pony - that was the one regret I had when cut all of my hair off! I didn't have a ponytail for 8 months and it drove me crazy!

Aly you look fantabulous with hair or without hair. Just be happy you are still retaining your hair. Someday I will grow a skullet and sell it to locks of love.

cute!
and besides it whipping you in the back, it probably feels good to not have it choke you when you sleep. did that happen to you too?
